Tualatin Indoor Soccer's Co-Owner Monty Hawkins name has been synonymous with soccer in Oregon & the Northwest since he starred at Gladstone High School in the early to mid 80's. Monty played collegiate soccer at both Warner Pacific College, under former NASL Portland Timber Bernie Fagan (87-88) & Captained Oregon State University's first NCAA Division I Men's team under former NASL Portland Timber legend Jimmy Conway (88-89). Upon graduation from OSU Monty played one year of professional Soccer in Tubingen, Germany for TSG Tubingen (91-92). He also played several seasons with Oregon Amateur Men's State Champions; Southport United & IPS.
His 23 year coaching career started at LaSalle High School, directing the Boy's team from 1989-96. He led the Falcons to 3 OSAA Championship State finals and the State Championship in 1994.
5 times he was honored as the Tri-Valley Coach of the Year and was further decorated by the OHSCA, NSCAA and Oregonian as both the Oregon and Far West Region ' High School, Coach of the Year'.
In 1996 he made the jump to the NCAA Division I coaching ranks. Guiding the Portland State University Women's Soccer team from 1996-1999. Noteworthy during the 1998 season the Lady Vikings ranked as the #6 top new NCAA Division I Women's Soccer program in the country (SoccerBuzz).
In 1999 Monty again stepped up the coaching ladder as Technical Director/Head Coach of the 'W' League Portland Rain (Women's Semi-Pro Soccer) leading the Rain to their first and only Pacific Coast Soccer League Championship in 2000. During that same time he served as Director of Community Relations and as an assistant for the now defunct WISL Portland Pythons Professional Indoor Soccer Team.
Monty has a strong connection to the local soccer community especially the youth: he served as the Director of Coaching for the 3 Rivers United Soccer Club in Clackamas, OR. (Now Eastside United) from 1992-98 & 99-2001. Under his leadership 3 Rivers United captured it's inaugural OYSA State Cup title in 1994 beginning an impressive 5 year run of consecutive OYSA State Cup championships ('94-'98) As a USSF 'A' Licensed coach (96') he was selected to coach in the prestigious Olympic Development Program serving as both an Oregon Head Coach and Region IV ODP Staff Coach (1993 to 2000). In 1998 he began his current 14 year tenure with the nationally prominent Beaverton based Westside Metros Soccer Club, in 2002 he was elevated to his current position as the High School Coaching Director.
Since 1994 he has lead his club teams to 14-OYSA State Cup Titles. 7-Region IV Semi-finals and 4 Region IV Finals & 2 Region IV Championships. He is the only coach in Oregon Youth Soccer History to win back to back USYS Region IV Championships and advance to the National Championship Finals. His team the WSM Internationals won Westside's first Region IV title in 2009 & followed it up with a 2nd title in 2010. The 2009 Region IV title was only the 3rd in Oregon Youth Soccer History and a first for an Oregon team since 1997.
Monty has coached and helped in the development of many outstanding local youth players including four Oregon based MLS players:
Erik Hurtado- 2013 MLS #5 Draft Selection
Danny Mwanga-2010 MLS #1 Draft Selection
Chad Barrett- 2005 MLS #3 Selection
and Rod Dyachenko.
In 2007 after a 12 year hiatus from High School coaching he was recruited back to the Oregon High School Soccer coaching ranks by Sherwood High School.
In only his second season at the helm the Bowmen captured their first League Championship in School history.
That same year the Bowmen reached the OSAA 5A State Semi-Finals.
He has twice been named as Boys Soccer Coach of the Year for the NWOC (2008 & 2011).
He has coached and played at every level of soccer- from youth to the pros.
From 2000 to 2002 he was the General Manager at the Oregon Soccer Center (Indoor Soccer) in Clackamas OR.
Since 2003 when Tualatin Indoor Soccer opened for business Monty and his wife Lisa have been honored and grateful to serve the local indoor soccer community.

Turn left again behind the La-z-boy. Tualatin Indoor Soccer is located directly behind the La-z-boy.
