Monty Hawkins

Tualatin Indoor Soccer's new Owner Monty Hawkins name has been synonymous with soccer in Oregon & the Northwest since he starred at Gladstone High School in the early 80's. Monty played collegiate soccer at Warner Pacific College, under former NASL Portland Timber Bernie Fagan (87-88) & Captained Oregon State University's first ever NCAA Division I Men's team under former NASL Portland Timber legend Jimmy Conway (88-89).   Monty played professional Soccer in Tubingen, Germany with TSG Tubingen (91-92). He also played several seasons with Oregon Amateur Men's State Champions; Southport United & IPS. 

His 26 year coaching career started at LaSalle High School directing the Boy's team from 1989-96. He led the Falcons to 3 OSAA Championship State finals and the State Championship in 1994.
5 times he was honored as the Tri-Valley Coach of the Year and was further decorated by the OACANSCAA and Oregonian as both the Oregon & Far West Region High School, Coach of the Year.  

In 1996 he joined the NCAA Division I coaching ranks. Guiding the Portland State University Women's Soccer team from 1996-1999. Noteworthy the 1998 the Lady Vikings squad was ranked as the #6 new NCAA Division I Women's Soccer program in the country (SoccerBuzz).

In 1999 he moved into professional team coaching as Technical Director of the 'W' League Portland Rain (Women's Semi-Pro Soccer) guiding the Rain to their first and only Pacific Coast Soccer League Championship in 2000. During that same time he served as Director of Community Relations and as an assistant for the WISL Portland Pythons Professional Indoor Soccer Team.

Monty also has a strong and impressive connection to the local youth soccer community in Oregon. Serving as the Director of Coaching for 3 Rivers United SoccerClub in Clackamas (Now Eastside United) from 1992-2001.  Under his leadership 3 Rivers United captured their inaugural OYSA State Cup title in 1994, the spark of an impressive 5 year run of consecutive OYSA State Cup championships from 1994 to 1998.  
He holds the USSF 'A'  Coaching license (96'). Serving in the Olympic Development Program as both an Oregon Head Coach and Region IV ODP Staff Coach from 1993 to 2000.  In 2013 he was asked to re-join the ODP staff as a Head Coach for Portland Timbers RTC team.
In 1998 he began his current 17 year coaching tenure with the nationally prominent Beaverton based Westside Metros Soccer Club, in 2002 he was selected as their High School Coaching Director.

He has coached club youth soccer teams to 14-OYSA State Cup Titles, 7-USYS Region IV Semi-finals,  4-USYS Region IV Finals & 2-USYS Region IV Championships. He is the only coach in Oregon Youth Soccer History to win back to back USYS Region IV Championships and advance to the USYS National Championship Finals. Coaching the WSM Internationals to the club's first ever USYS Region IV title in 2009 &  they followed it up with a repeat USYS Region IV title in 2010.  The 2009 USYS Region IV title was only the 3rd in Oregon Youth Soccer History and a first title for an Oregon team since 1997.

Monty has coached and helped in the development of many outstanding local youth players including Oregon based MLS players:

Chad Barrett- 2005 MLS #3 Selection

In 2007 after a 12 year hiatus from High School coaching ranks he was lured back to the Oregon High School Soccer coaching ranks by Sherwood High School.  In just his second season, 2008 the Bowmen captured their first League Championship in School history.  That same year the Bowmen reached the OSAA 5A State Semi-Finals. At Sherwood he has twice been named as Boys Soccer Coach of the Year at Sherwood by the NWOC in both 2008 & 2011.

In 2012 he was appointed as Chair for Boys Soccer by the Oregon Athletic Coaches Association

In 2014 he was appointed to serve on the National Federation of High School Soccer Rule Committee, representing all Coaches from the United States.

He has coached and played at every level of soccer- from youth to the pros.

From 2000 to 2002 he was the General Manager at the Oregon Soccer in Clackamas OR.
