WUSC Spring League

Who: Kindergarten through 12th Grade Soccer Players Register online today!
What: Spring is the time for indoor soccer and futsal at WUSC. Games will be played at the Tualatin Indoor Soccer Center 15 minutes from Wilsonville and West Linn. The field is the size of an ice hockey rink and has small goals built into the end walls. The field is made of astro-turf and is surrounded by plexi-glass and fiberglass walls.
Plans are for Willamette United teams (to play futsal this spring. But, depending on how many teams from other clubs join the spring league, Willamette United and TIS may offer traditional indoor soccer league play in addition to the futsal league for some age groups.
Indoor soccer uses the entire field, including the walls. There are no off-sides rules and substitutions are made on the fly. There are 6 field players and one goalie for 3rd - 5th grade games; 5 field players plus a goalie for 6th-12th grade games.
Futsal is a 5v5 version of soccer that's played on basketball-sized courts, without the use of the sidewalls. Substitutions are made on the fly and the game emphasizes ball possession and ball handling, due to the fact that each player gets at least 80 touches on the ball per game. The short pass and team work is heavily emphasized. Futsal dates back to the 1930s and is played worldwide at every level.
